Problems of geologic exploration related to integration of multiple geological databases

DOI:
It is noted that success of geological exploration depends greatly on reliable monitoring and control of current operations as well as effective geological data sharing. This paper addresses a problem of integration and data sharing between
databases developed by multiple subsoil users. Adequate solutions, if found, would maximize exploration success with minimum investment.

Implementation of new equipment for expandable casings strings

DOI:

Expandable casings strings applied by Tatneft on a commercial scale allowed complete exclusion of intermediate casing strings from the well designs in the Volga-Ural oil-producing region. Underway is research and pilot tests of expandable systems to isolate trouble zones as thick as 500-1000 m. For expanding of casing strings mechanical and hyd - raulic expansion mandrels are used, along with hydraulic jack, anchor, and by-pass valves.

Isolation of Kynovskian shales with expandable profile liner of PBI–144/130 type

DOI:

TatNIPIneft engineers have developed the procedure to control formation caving and sloughing in horizontal wells with expandable profile liner of PBI–144/130 type, which is set in a well per one trip and consists of expandable profiled pipes with threaded ends, a retrievable shoe in the bottom pipe, and a setting head connected with the top pipe with righthand thread. The new procedure was successfully used to isolate the Kynovskian shales when sidetracking a lateral in Well No. 831 in the Romashkinskoye field. The job was done for forty-eight hours. No problems were encountered while further drilling and casing.

Comparative analysis of methods to evaluate cement bond quality

DOI:

It is shown that well logging may not adequately show whether cement is well bonded with the casing and formation. To achieve better accuracy in evaluation of cement bond quality it is recommended to perform cement-bond logging before and after the production string is run into the well and after cementing jobs are accomplished. Some modifications have been proposed for interpretation of gamma-gamma logging data using Scanning GR-Thickness Fault Detector. In particular it is suggested to introduce anisotropy factor for density measurements of cement sheath around the casing.

Comparative estimation of the effectiveness of implemented system of development at Romashkinskoye field areas

DOI:

The average geological parameters and oilfield development indicators of Romashkinskoye field areas are given. The effect of the fluid withdrawal rate on the efficiency of development is investigated. The comparison of actual and predicted (obtained by V.F. Baziv charts) development indicators of some areas are presented. It is noted, that the relatively high efficiency of waterflooding of Romashkinskoye field objects is provided by active control of the productive strata flushing processes during the entire period of development.

Estimating efficiency of dual completion for development of the Bashkirian stage using geological and reservoir modeling

DOI:

Analysis of geological and well logging data suggests that separate geological units exist in the producing intervals of the Bashkirian stage, which made us consider using dual completion technology for their development. The paper presents geophysical cross-sections illustrating existence of the uppermost and the lowermost units in the Aksubaevo-Mokshinskoye and Nurlatskoye fields. Geological and reservoir models have been constructed. Two development scenarios for Nurlatskoye field, commingled production and dual completion, have been analyzed. The results demonstrate higher efficiency of dual completion vs. commingled production: against the same value of cumulative water production oil recovery factor in the first case is approximately 5 % higher.

Application of enhanced oil recovery methods on Tatneft OAO fields

DOI:

Historical development, current trends and future outlook for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods in Tatneft OAO determined by oil-field development issues is presented. The company proved to have a wide range of efficient, available and evolving, EOR techniques for various applications. The paper offers a special focus on application of EOR techniques for development of hard-to-recover reserves. A wide application of EOR methods to unconventional oil reserves development requires government motivation by means of lower mineral extraction tax rates. As for the company it should keep updating its EOR techniques.

The use of horizontal technology of oil reserve recovery from heterogeneous carbonate rocks of Lower and Middle Carboniferous

DOI:

It is noted, that the construction of a bottom of multihole horizontal well with up side holes allows to cross the nonuniform section of carbonate rocks several times and to increase the borehole length along the reservoir. It is concluded that in the conditions of the Bashkirian deposits the pressure maintenance must be carried out elementwise.

Quality monitoring of oilfield water in Tatneft OAO

DOI:

Tatneft OAO has introduced an effective waste water quality monitoring system based on a wide range of different parameters. In most of the Company’s water treatment plants monitoring of principal parameters, such as concentration of solids and oxygen, is carried out on a real-time basis. This allows immediate corrective actions to provide the required quality of water injected for pressure maintenance.

Design and testing of new electrical insulating joints for oilfield pipelines

DOI:

This paper discusses advantages and disadvantages of electrical insulating joints which have been most extensively used for oilfield pipeline construction. New insulating joints developed in TATNEFT present high mechanical strengths and leak-proof properties and guarantee reliable electric insulation at operating pressures of up to 21 MPa. The results of their testing at TATNEFT facilities are discussed. The paper offers a technological solution to reduce accelerated interior corrosion of a joint at pipeline section with less negative electrode potential of outer surface.

Innovative platform of an oil and gas complex of Russia

DOI:

Since July, 8th, 2010 with good reason it is possible to name the Vankorsky oil and gas deposit the ancestor of new oil region: 10−million the ton of oil extracted this day – weighty to volume the basis. It is a mark to which many oil industry workers go for years. On Vankore industrial extraction has begun more recently – in August, 2009 Therefore when on monitors of knot of the account of the saved up extraction of Joint-Stock Company "Ванкорнефть" there was figure "10 000 000", there was a pride for those who there works, and that these oil industry workers – Russian. And in process of survey of the deposit this feeling gets stronger.
