Vertical permeability profile determination using well data

DOI:
In this article we propose a new approach to calculation of a vertical permeability profile in wells based on the integration of log and well test data (fr om active or passive experiments) and a priory reservoir heterogeneity information, derived fr om core sample analysis or water cut dynamics. Mathematically, this problem can be described as permeability estimation for reservoir intervals by their ranking in the order of filtration characteristics increasing (based on well log data) and by applying of the order statistics methods (non-reference measurements) to the obtained ranked sample. The proposed technique allows a considerable process acceleration and quality improvement in history matching of 3D dynamic models, where even the first approximation of permeability (at the stage of model initialization) gives the best fit to a true distribution.

Principle of iteration compostion of sector models for full field reservoir simulation of giant fields

DOI:
The full field simulation of large reservoirs with number of cells more than 107 using majority of modern hydrodynamic simulators is hampered or even impossible. However, often such problem is topical. The consistency of an initial model is provided with matching of pressure fields and fluid flows on the boundaries of adjacent sector models for each time step of simulation. Authors offer to perform such conjugation by executing on special iterative algorithm realized in the form of the software. The principle of iterative conjugation of sector models can be realized practically for anyone modern hydrodynamic simulator. This provides the new unique possibilities for simulation of large reservoirs, simulation on initial geological grids (without upscaling), paralleling and acceleration of simulation, usage different simulators for each sector model. The technology is demonstrated by the example of test models and real full-field simulation model.

Assessment of polymer-dispersed systems efficiency

DOI:

It has been shown that treatment of productive intervals with polymer dispersed system leads to more uniform, compared with base case, displacement of mobile oil, thus increasing production. Polymer dispersed system increases sweep efficiency, thus adding to oil production, slowing down watering of the wellstream, and extending wells’ service life. It has also been shown that polymer flooding improves recovery not only from low-permeability intervals, but also from high-permeability washed zones. Results of modeling showed that polymer dispersed system injected in Aktashsky area in the vicinity of injection well No. 1667 in the Elkovskoye oil field yields additional 7500 tons of oil. Cumulative oil production by end of development exceeds that of the base case by 31 thous. tons.
