Geological and technological challenges of development of heavy oil reservoir in Ashalchinskoye field

The Republic of Tatarstan possesses significant reserves of heavy oil and bitumen. This paper describes the results of steam gravity recovery of oil using U-shaped horizontal wells due to the geological conditions of the Ashalchinskoye field. Some features of U-shaped horizontal well pairs operation are presented.
