Key words: geological model, facies, integrated approach, risks evaluation, decision trees, oil fields development.

The article considers the experience of application conceptual geological models in Gazprom Neft JSC. Gazprom Neft pays great attention to developing integrated fields development plans, including the study of the geological basis. Under low quantity of data seismogeological and facies models has a big importance. An integrated approach to the understanding of modern geological deposits on the basis of the history of its formation, ways of hydrocarbons migrations is an important phase in the life of the oil and gas project.

Seismic inversion feasibility assessment in the stage of problem setting

DOI:

Key words: seismic inversion, forward modeling, petrophysical study.

Recently, a tendency of state-of-the-art technologies designed for prediction of HC reservoir properties basing on seismic and well log data to fail producing the expected results has been observed. This may be due to a number of objectively reasonable causes, namely, complexity of seismic and geological characteristics, reservoir is not enough contrast in terms of elastic properties, and insufficiency of input geological and geophysical information. This paper discusses the questions of seismic inversion feasibility assessment in the stage of planning a work and setting a problem. Before carrying out inversion transformations, the integrated performance of such procedures as seismic data quality assessment, petrophysical substantiation of seismic inversion, and forward modeling is recommended. All this will allow to eliminate unreasonable time and financial costs.

Different techniques have been used to analyze and substantiate the Devonian formation permeability change with time. It has been shown that perm values are by order of magnitude lower vs. the initial in-place permeability by logging. When deciding on the fracture design, it shall be borne in mind that negative skin is characteristic of many wells penetrating the Devonian in the southeastern Tatarstan. Skin effect on hydrofrac performance in horizontal and vertical wells has also been analyzed.

This difference is caused by different thermobaric conditions of the experiments. The conclusion is made about significant effect of reservoir temperature and effective stress.

The paper considers the method of hydraulic calculations in horizontal and inclined pipelines actually applied within the frames of regional integrated modeling, as well as in boreholes of production and injection wells. The authors have performed the comparison of the results achieved using this method with the analogous results achieved using Pipesim software. The average discrepancy between the input data in both software makes less than 1%. Basing upon the example of Samaraneftegaz JSC it was illustrated that the speed of calculations using this applied method is 20 times higher than the speed of analogous calculations through Pipesim 2003, that opens new possibilities in automated solution of optimization targets within the production company (search of optimum network lengths, selection of pipe diameters, connection of new wells and licensed areas).

Integration of service market in Russian petroleum industry develops mainly due to penetration of foreign companies with new equipment and technologies. There are only few examples of Russian service companies that propose and perform research and design products on foreign markets. Today Russian research and design institutions use the same software, methodic of data processing and analysis of field information but nevertheless procedure of work management, consideration differs from foreign approach. An experience of design work on oil field development for foreign operators is presented. The main issues and differences of foreign approaches to research and design of oil field development (Field Development Projects, Full Field Review) are considered in the paper.
