Experience and perspectives of Basin Modelling technology application in Gazpromneft NTC LLC

At first the models were created for basins of the Black Sea and the Eastern Siberia. The experience indicated the advantages of basin modeling technology and the main challenges such as lack of data, the software limitations and need оf additional specialized trainings, new approaches and skills. The decision was made to develop skills in both areas. As soon as the competences in basin modeling grow it will be possible to create “constant living” updating models for the regions of Gazpromneft JSC business activity. These regional models could be used for express-assessment of license blocks and further to create detailed local models of the blocks with the background of the coarse scale regional model for resource estimation, risk assessment and predrilling pressure forecast.

Reservoir monitoring and field development in Gasprom neft JSC

Gazprom Neft experience in permanent downhole measurement tool (PDMT) implementation to improve production control and field optimization is presented. Real time downhole pressure measurements are made in all producers and injectors. Smart wells in case of commingled production are used in all injectors and pilot project is started for producers, in other cases permanent downhole rate, water hold up, pressure and temperature gages are used with real-time on-line downhole to surface transmission. On base of reliable data field development was optimized, water cut – reduced and oil production increased.

Model of the distribution of ground pressure in the rocks of the Bazhenovsko-Abalakskiy complex at the edges of the lateral structures is calculated.

Low permeable collectors with fracturing: the interpretation of hydrodynamic research based on the analysis of well’s yield reduction

Low permeable reservoirs well-tests are often ambiguously interpretive. Short well-tests doesn’t see “radial” flow, long ones has not unique interpretation due to simultaneous influence of changes in reservoir pressure, skin-factor and relative permeability. Long term downhole pressure measurement is required to increase well-test results reliability. Pressure gage instillation on ESP is used in Gazpromneft. Case study shown optimum technique is long term drawdown and periodic build-ups with on-line flowing bottomhole pressure registration during fluid level increase. Coincident interpretation of drawdown and build-ups gives permeability and changes in skin-factor and reservoir pressure with time and make a reliable forecast.

The study of low-resistance productive reservoirs by the example of Gazpromneft OJSC fields

The features of interpretation of the low-resistance productive reservoirs (of low-resistance zones) are considered. It is established that the reservoirs of these zones have boundary values different from conventional reservoirs. It is noted that the source of errors in determining the nature of these zones intervals saturation are not specific electrical properties of rocks, but not quite correct determination of reservoir filtration-capacitive properties.

A program-technical complex ISKENDER for the analysis of the formation-well-pump system operation in Gazpromneft NTTs is developed. A mathematical model of program-technical complex ISKENDER is adapted for horizontal wells of Sugmutskoye and for multilayer wells of Priobskoye fields. It is shown that program-technical complex ISKENDER simulation results can be used for a wide range of tasks: from the selection of downhole equipment and analysis of its effectiveness to study of the interference of seepages and pressures change in the production and injection wells.

Lithogenetic classification of carbonate reservoirs using well log-data for more precise definition of reservoir properties

A method of lithogeneous rock typification and clarification for improved reservoir properties determination from log data is presented. On the example of the Lower Devonian carbonate formations of the Timan-Pechora region we show the application of certain mathematical data classification methods for the training set, which allowed to justify a logging suite for facial zone identification. Construction of regression models enabled a lithogeneous typification of geological sections with an acceptable accuracy.

New technology of horizontal well completion and production

The most efficient completion technique for horizontal wells drilled in heterogeneous formations is their segregation into separate zones according to formation reservoir properties. A new technology of horizontal wells completion and production using profile liners with packers, dividing a horizontal wellbore into several sections, is proposed which has been field-tested on well 4395G (Bavlinsky field). Selective acidizing used in this horizontal well resulted in a 1,47-times increase of oil production rate.

New technologies to isolate lost circulation zones during well intervention

Lost circulation control is the most expensive type of well work. A suitable cement slurry formulation ensures optimum isolation of lost-circulation zones. Thus clay-silicate slurry is used for squeeze jobs to restore production casing integrity and isolate formations with specific injectivity of 3 m3/(h.MPa), while gypsum silicate slurry is best suited for squeeze jobs during well re-completion operations and repair of damaged casing due to catastrophic mud losses.
