Separator operation is shown where gas is separated from liquid in the annulus above the pump suction isolated from the bottom-hole by a packer. A mathematical model of well operation with a deep-well pump equipped with the proposed type of separator as well as a method for gas separator depth determination in order to reduce energy costs in oil pumping production were developed. The numerical studies carried out in accordance with the method developed show that the effectiveness of the use of a gas separator is significantly enhanced with the increase in the gas-oil ratio and the decrease in bottom-hole pressure below the bubble point pressure.
