Key words: carbonate reservoir, fracture system, oriented core, micro-conductivity imaging tool (MCI).

Carbonate reservoirs are, for the most part, naturally fractured which creates additional structural heterogeneity and has a significant effect on oil recovery pattern. Fracture system parameters are determined using direct methods (core material analysis) and by open-hole well logging. Only combined application of modern well logging and core analysis techniques can ensure a reliable characterization of such reservoirs. The resulting data will enable a detailed description of carbonate reservoir structure and will be considered while drilling new wells and reservoir development planning.
