Improving the reliability of start-up of pipelines with a frozen paraffin oil

One of the ways to improve the reliability of start-up of pipeline with frozen paraffin oil is proposed. At pipeline start-up the problems can arise due to oil thermal shrinkage of and formation of voids along the upper generatrix of a pipe that will not allow to effectively implementing the displacement of the frozen oil because of the pushing agent breakthrough in the pipeline. To prevent this and to increase reliability of the of the pipeline start-up it is proposed to use the gel piston, which is applied for pipelines cleaning from paraffin deposits. The results of experiments on start-up of a pipeline with frozen paraffin oil, using a gel piston, are given.
