Results of a decade-long chain drives application in Tatneft OAO

The paper sums up OAO TATNEFT ten years’ experience of commercial application of beamless drives based on reversing reducing converter mechanism (chain drives) that are used in the sucker-rod pumping units. The paper presents information about well operation conditions, production problems, as well as data on application. Results of performance analysis of statistically significant samples of difficult wells referred to different categories clearly demonstrate the actual operational advantages of chain drives. Prospective lines of development of chain drives and improvement of well performance operated by sucker-rod pumping units with chain drives are discussed.
