Capillary effects in fractured rocks

Authors: A.M. Svalov (Oil and Gas Research Institute of RAS)
The features of the interaction of two-phase seepages with cracks in a porous medium by means of mathematical modeling are investigated. It is shown that the formation of zones of capillary impregnation near cracks significantly alters the relative permeabilities, leads to the formation of unrecovered fixed residual oil and pressure losses at the intersection of cracks with two-phase flow.
